The first two PADDINGTON movies, in which the good-natured and unwittingly adventurous bear is voiced by Ben Whishaw, are delightful family adventures that surprised audiences around the world. The second film was released in 2017 but the series has great staying power. (We're showing PADDINGTON 2 as part of this year's Summer Movie Clubhouse, too!)
Now a third movie, PADDINGTON IN PERU, is on the way, with all of the main cast members returning, and a few fabulous new additions to fill out new roles. We've got the first PADDINGTON IN PERU trailer below, along with loads of info about the long-in-development threequel.
What's the Paddington in Peru Release Date?
In the US, PADDINGTON IN PERU comes out on February 14, 2025.
Watch the First Paddington in Peru Trailer
Every PADDINGTON movie has had a few standout comedy sequences, and both of the previous movies have shown one off in a trailer. So here we are with a classic Paddington misadventure with a photo booth. It's a wonderful way to introduce this new chapter in the bear's continuing story.
What's the Story in Paddington in Peru?
The film's basic plot is laid out pretty well in the trailer, and it sees Paddington returning to Peru in the hopes of a reunion with his Aunt Lucy. When he and his adoptive family arrive at the Home for Retired Bears where she supposedly resides, they find that Aunt Lucy has gone off on her own quest. (Supposedly, at least. We don't know if the character played by Olivia Colman is entirely to be trusted, despite the habit.)
And so, Paddington and the Brown family go off in search of Lucy — thereby spinning a Paddington story that takes place far from the familiar streets of London.
Who's in the Cast of Paddington in Peru?
Ben Whishaw (backed by a team of incredible animators) leads the cast, as Paddington Bear. The returning cast includes Hugh Bonneville and Emily Mortimer as the Brown parents, Henry and Mary. Madeleine Harris and Samuel Joslin play their kids, Judy and Jonathan "J-Dog" Brown, and Julie Walters returns to play their housekeeper, Mrs. Bird.
Additionally, Jim Broadbent is back as the ex-con Samuel Gruber, and Imelda Staunton once again performs the voice of Aunt Lucy.
New cast members include Olivia Colman, playing a character simply known as The Reverend Mother; Antonio Banderas as the charming boat captain Hunter Cabot; and Carla Tous as his daughter, Gina Cabot.
