(Updated 06/14/2023)

Nothing can stop Tom Cruise's super-agent, Ethan Hunt. It's been 27 years since Ethan Hunt ran onto the screen in the 1996 movie MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE, and Cruise isn't just going strong in the role nearly three decades later — he's going harder than ever before. MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 7, properly known as MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - DEAD RECKONING PART ONE, has some of the most daring sequences of the star's career.Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One | Cinemark

DEAD RECKONING PART ONE and the follow-up, which will probably be called PART TWO, were filmed back-to-back by franchise mainstay writer/director Christopher McQuarrie. Now the new chapter is almost here, there's a new trailer, and we're amped for some new M:I action! Want a round-up of all the most up-to-date information on MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 7? Here’s everything we know so far.

When can we see Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One?

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - DEAD RECKONING PART ONE is set for release on July 14. The following movie, DEAD RECKONING PART TWO, is set for release on June 28, 2024.

This new MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE trailer is spectacular. Outside of some portentous voice-over about the weight of the past and its effect on the future, we're not told too much about the story in DEAD RECKONING. The trailer does show off all the returning characters and plays like a greatest hits of M:I action and locations, with some amazing new stunts thrown in.

This DEAD RECKONING trailer includes what Cruise, an adrenaline junkie, has called his most dangerous stunt to date: driving a motorcycle off of a cliff, behind-the-scenes footage of which was released last fall.

Familiar and new faces alike will be in MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 7. One of the most exciting is Henry Czerny, who returns as former IMF director Eugene Kittridge, the character he played in the very first MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE movie. Alongside him will be many M:I regulars. Simon Pegg’s Benji Dunn will return along with Ving Rhames’s Luther Stickell, Rebecca Ferguson’s Ilsa Faust, Vanessa Kirby as White Widow, and Angela Bassett as Erika Sloane.

There will also be a handful of actors making their MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE debuts. Those include Hayley Atwell and Pom Klementieff of Marvel Cinematic Universe fame, Cary Elwes (THE PRINCESS BRIDE), comedian Rob Delaney, Indira Varma ("Game of Thrones"), Shea Whigham ("Boardwalk Empire"), Charles Parnell (TOP GUN: MAVERICK), and Mark Gatiss ("Sherlock").

The Director of Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One

After leading the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE series to success with ROGUE NATION in 2015 and FALLOUT in 2018, (and writing some of GHOST PROTOCOL) Christopher McQuarrie is back to write and direct both new MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE installments. McQuarrie also directed Tom Cruise in 2012’s JACK REACHER and wrote for him in REACHER, VALKYRIE, and EDGE OF TOMORROW. It seems that the two are a match made in action movie heaven.

The MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE series has employed many top-tier directors over the years – including Brian De Palma, JJ Abrams, Brad Bird, and John Woo. Perhaps thanks to his close working relationship with Cruise, McQuarrie has managed to have the most longevity of the bunch.

What is the Plot of Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One?

As expected, mum's the word about the plot for MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 7. But you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to assume that Ethan Hunt and the IMF team (what remains of it, anyway) racing against the clock to save humanity from a new threat. A little predictability isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as Christopher McQuarrie has so astutely shown us. It's the ideal framework for amazing stunts and action.

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - DEAD RECKONING PART ONE opens on July 14.
