Isn't it weird how some movies never truly feel old but can also feel like they've been part of your life forever? INTERSTELLAR doesn't feel like it has been around for a decade and yet it also feels like it could have come out of a more classical Hollywood era (visual effects aside). That's just one of many movies celebrating a significant birthday in 2024.
Here's a list of some of the most significant titles celebrating an important anniversary in 2024. Some recent hits turn 15, a group of classics make it to 50, and two of the most iconic movies of all time turn 85 years old.
And while we can't promise to play all of these films, we do program many movie anniversaries every month. You just need to know what to look out for. And while you're looking out for details, try to count how many movies on this list are getting new sequels or remakes this year. (Hint: It's around ten, depending on whether or not a couple movies in production are dated for 2024 release.)
