Terminator: Dark Fate - Exclusive Interview With Linda Hamilton and Gabriel Luna

Terminator: Dark Fate - Exclusive Interview With Linda Hamilton and Gabriel Luna

(10/29/2019)

In TERMINATOR: DARK FATE, original star Linda Hamilton finally returns to the role of Sarah Connor, 27 years after the release of TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY. DARK FATE follows Connor as she encounters Grace (Mackenzie Davis), an enhanced human warrior sent back from the future to protect a woman named Dani (Natalia Reyes) from assassination by an advanced new Terminator model, the Rev-9 (Gabriel Luna).

The film is an exciting and energetic mix of classic Terminator ideas and muscular new performances and characters. We spoke to returning star Linda Hamilton, and new stars Mackenzie Davis, Natalia Reyes, and Gabriel Luna, to learn about how the film came together.

Linda Hamilton reflected that "it had been so long since I played Sarah Connor, I forgot how hard it was. It's like giving birth, God takes the memory away so you'll give birth a second time," she joked about returning to the "ever-evolving" character and franchise.

"There were six months of non-stop action," Reyes told us, recalling how "we were scuba diving but acting at the same time, it was really intense." Mackenzie Davis said her most difficult night on set was "also water-related," because "we were suspended 90 degrees on a makeshift dam waterfall, and I had to keep exiting this very uncomfortable situation [before] re-emerging into this waterfall. [It was] twelve times in a night being freezing cold and then jittering and finally getting warm enough to do it again."

For Gabriel Luna, the difficult part "was the training, just getting myself from somebody who is mostly smoking cigarettes and drinking, to put all that aside, throw all that away, and then start spending an hour and a half in the gym, five days a week."
