Reopening FAQ

In accordance with the CDC recommendation, face masks are required for non-vaccinated guests and strongly encouraged for all other guests, except where required by local mandates. Masks may be removed when eating and drinking inside the auditorium.

All high-touch and concession areas are cleaned frequently and thoroughly. Restrooms are sanitized at least every 30 minutes. 

We take the safety of our employees & guests very seriously. Our fast-drying and non-toxic disinfectant is safe for humans and has been identified by the EPA to be effective in eliminating COVID-19. We closely follow the manufacturer’s recommendations, including requiring gloves and goggles for employees who are applying the product. Employee masks are also used as an extra Cinemark precaution.

Restrooms are sanitized at least every 30 minutes during operating hours, including door handles, toilets, handles, sinks, countertops, soap dispensers, faucets and baby-changing stations. For a more detailed list of cleaning procedures, please click here.

For all theatre employees, temp checks will be mandatory during their “first 5 minutes” wellness check-in prior to each shift. Any employee who has a fever or is feeling ill will not be permitted to work the shift. For guests, Cinemark is following the guidelines of state and/or local authorities with regards to temperature checks.

Our restaurants and bars will re-open when we are certain all necessary protocols are in place and also in accordance with local guidelines, which means some dining options inside your theatre will likely not be open right away. In the meantime, limited menus may be offered temporarily at some locations, including beer, wine & frozen cocktails. For more information on our food safety standards, click here.

Yes, currently open restaurants will have QR codes that can be scanned from your phone’s camera to launch a digital menu.

Your benefits will be automatically reinstated when your local theatre has reopened, so you’re able to enjoy the perks of being a Movie Club member as soon as you’re ready to come back to the movies.

But don’t worry! You won’t be charged for your Movie Club account until you're fully able to enjoy new movies at Cinemark.  We'll be sending you emails regarding your local theatre(s) re-opening, as well as notifying you about plans for billing to resume.

Don't worry! We'll be in touch before any billing occurs. A new movie credit will be issued as soon as your monthly billing resumes.

Unfortunately, we have halted all drink and popcorn refills to limit contact points. The prices for our large refillable sizes have been reduced in order to compensate for the inconvenience.

To limit contact points, we are no longer able to accept annual refillable cups and popcorn tubs. However, if you purchased our 2020 refillable cup or tub, we will happily honor your discount and provide an equivalent single-use container. Each time you come to Cinemark, please bring your refillable cup and/or tub and show them at the concession stand to receive your discount.

To make up for the time we were temporarily closed this year, we are extending the valid dates of your discount through June 30, 2021.

Any unused credits on an active or paused Movie Club membership continued to roll over and will be available to use as soon as theatres re-open.

If your membership was canceled prior to or during our theatre closures, we’ve extended the expiration date for all unused credits by the amount of time our locations are closed in order to allow you to have the full amount of time to enjoy your credits.

If you joined using a multi-month gift promo code prior to our theatre closures in March 2020, we have continued to issue new movie credits to you each month while theatres were closed. Our credits never expire as long as you’re a member, so they’re waiting for you as soon as you’re ready to visit us!

We’ve also extended your first billing date to accommodate the amount of time our memberships have been paused, to ensure you’re able to enjoy all of your Movie Club benefits for the full length of your gift period. New credits will not be issued during this extension time, but all other Movie Club benefits will be available to you without charge.

Log in to your account and visit your member page. Scroll down to the “Manage Your Membership” section and expand it. Click the “Edit Payment” option to update your payment method. Updating your card will NOT automatically resume your billing!

If you manually paused your membership on your own, the default pause period is 3 months. Your membership will automatically resume after those 3 months are over, and your payments will continue at that time.

You are free to manually resume your membership at any time by logging in to your account and visiting, where an option to “resume membership” is available under the ‘Manage Your Membership’ section.

Doing so will resume your monthly membership payments, reactivate your benefits, and your credits will continue to be issued as normal.
